Ponderings Along the Pathway...THE BIRTH OF NEW BEGINNINGS

Welcome to this month's edition of Ponderings Along the Pathway, an exclusive feature over here on the Path of Positivity. The purpose of this column is to continue with the goal of this blog which is to create a space "designed to inspire, nurture and provide support for the soul by creating a positive path to follow, one project or post at a time". Providing some motivational introspection on the themes we cover each challenge period is one way of achieving this goal.

This month it is all about THE BIRTH OF NEW BEGINNINGS and PAT is here to share her thoughts on the subject...

Life is a journey with many paths to follow. When you get to the end of one path, you begin to travel a new one. It may be a graduation, a relationship, a new home, a new baby, even a new you! Beginnings can bring happiness, progress and love.

“It's humbling to start fresh. It takes a lot of courage....
You just have to put your ego on a shelf and tell it to be quiet.”
~Jennifer Ritchie Payette

Nature asks us to follow her lead as the trees’ leaves burst into bright colors before falling off as autumn leads to winter. Yet an end to one season brings a new one and the birth of new beginnings – buds on trees, flowers popping up to find the sun. The grass changes its heavy brown coat for a light, bright green one; squirrels and birds wake from their deep slumber. New beginnings are…

“…like entering upon a new stage of life,
having a new world before us from which to receive,
and upon which to make impressions.”
-Henry James Slack

We look forward on our journey to our new path, but It is unknown, it is change, and some people are scared to lift their feet off the familiar path and start a new one. Don’t be afraid to take that first step, even though…

“There will be boondoggles and discombobulated days,
freaked-out nights and metaphorical flat tires.
But it will be soul-smashingly beautiful… It will open up your life.”
― Cheryl Strayed

And who can resist the scent of a new baby? The freedom from classes and grades and professors? The thrill from hearing a lifelong vow of love? The heavenly perfume from a blooming garden? A healthier and happier lifestyle? Change is the very nature of life, and while some paths end, new paths stretch before us, promising a birth of new beginnings. I hope you join us on the Path of Positivity as we all journey through 2017.

It really does take courage to walk new paths during our journey through life. Pat's beautiful reflection is a true reminder of that and of the many new beginnings life life may have in store for us. Where will your new beginnings take you during 2017? While we may have goals that we want to work on, the path itself is wide open and only time will tell where our journeys will take us. Good luck as you travel yours.

Well folks, that is it for today. Enjoy your weekend everyone and please join us again on Monday when we hope to announce the Winners and DT Delights for Challenge #46!

Challenge #47--Optional Theme: BIRTH OF NEW BEGINNINGS...Midway

Hello everyone! It is time to get on with the midway for Challenge #47. Apologies for the delay. I tell you, technology hasn't been my friend these past few days. I spent 45 minutes working on something on my laptop the other night only to have a catastrophic failure (never happened before) and lost all my work because I was updating a blogger document and of course I forget that it doesn't automatically save every few minutes. Then, this afternoon as I was working on this midway post, something strange happened to my main computer when I tried to copy a passage. Suddenly, I couldn't do anything--not only in Firefox but in my other programs as well. I tried shutting down my browser but it wasn't enough. While I could alt tab and shut down the rest, I ended up having to reboot which took extra time and then when I got Firefox open, suddenly it stopped responding and stayed that way a good three minutes. Fingers, crossed nothing else will get in the way of getting this post out! Anyway, enough about that, it is time for us to continue with reason you have popped by today.

As we are a unique kind of challenge blog, please be sure to check out the start post found HERE, for all the rules and details you need to know in order to enter. For now, here is a refresher of what our theme is all about:

Challenge #47

Optional Theme: BIRTH OF NEW BEGINNINGS

Spring is a time of growth and renewal. In North America, the world is awakening around us once again. Soon we will be emerging from the deep frost of winter and enjoying the new life that spring holds. As the world renews around us, it is a good time to be thinking of the concept of birth--whether the birth of animals or plant life in nature, the birth of babies in the human world, or even the birth of new ideas and goals.

In order to have a chance to win the prize for the Most Inspirational Creation, be sure to explore this idea of the Birth of New Beginnings. Do you know of anyone about to bring a baby into their world? This would be the perfect time to create a congratulations card. Maybe you know someone who is thinking about adopting a new pet. Perhaps you or someone you know is trying to get a business or even just a concept off the ground. These are all good examples, of 'birth' and all great occasions to celebrate. Whatever direction you take the birth of new beginnings in, we'd love to part of that journey.

If you do follow the optional theme, be sure to add FT after your name so that we include you in the draw for the prize for Most Inspirational. We also ask that you let us know how your creation relates to the concept of birth if it isn't readily clear within the design itself or clearly written somewhere else in your post. While you may easily see how the concept of birth relates to your creation, it may not be as apparent to me or the DT members. That is why we ask that you clarify it somewhere, whether here in a comment on this post or in your blogpost. You can simply write a sentence at the bottom of your post next to the link up for this challenge, if it would be easier. We just need to know how your project ties into the theme. Letting us know, clears up any ambiguity that may exist.

Remember, in order to be considered eligible for this month's prizes, ALL creations must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature. You don't need to follow the optional theme if you simply want to have a chance at the Random Draw prize of a $10 gift certificate from Limited Runs, one of our sponsors this month. You only need to follow the theme if you want a chance to win this month's sponsored prize of a $20 gift certificate to the Kitten Scraps store, provided by the second of our guest sponsors this month.

Talking of our guest sponsors...

To learn more about this month's guest sponsors, be sure to check out the START post; and of course, also visit the individual sponsors themselves. Below you will find the watermarks and links for the wonderful images that the team worked with for the midway.

Challenge #46 Top Picks: Voting Open March 14th to 20th, 2017

WELCOME TO THE CHALLENGE #46 POP TOP!

Hello everyone! It is time to get on with showcasing the top picks for Challenge #46. I apologize that I am running a day late in getting this posted. I haven't been feeling at all well this past week and unfortunately that means less time on the computer.

I was so very pleased to see that we had 22 people join us during the past challenge. That is a big step up from what it has been of late. Out of those 22, eight people stated that they followed the theme, though from the looks of it, a few others qualified as well given the nature of their entry. Now, it has been a long time since we have been able to do this so I'm pleased to say that it is time to get on with showcasing the seven projects and/or write-ups that touched the team the most. In case you are new and wondering why seven and not the typical three, four or even five? Any time in the past that we have had more than 14 entries, we have had a top seven. We have always strived to be a bit different over here on the Path of Positivity and this is just another way to do so. Additionally, seven is a spiritual number and thus right in the wheelhouse of the vibe we are looking to project; so, seven it is. Unfortunately, this past year we often had fewer than 10 participants which meant that we could only have a top three. On some occasions, when we had less than seven people join in, we were only able to have one top pick; but, at least for this challenge, we're back up to seven!

Thus, without further ado, please let me introduce you to the Top Picks for Challenge #46...

Congrats Ladies...

As a participant who has been chosen as a Top Pick in this challenge,
you are entitled to a special Challenge #46 Top Pick Badge.
Please feel free to grab a copy for your blog...

HAVE YOUR SAY!

Now the really hard work starts. It is time for you, our readers, to vote for your favourite entry. Which participant most inspires you? Remember, you are not necessarily voting on a creation that was made. You might simply find what the person had to say in their post to be inspiring and optimistic. Please be sure to go and check out the entries first and not just make your choices off of the thumbnails. Then, let us know who your favourite choice is by placing your vote below using the Linky Tools feature. Once you have made your decision, why not go back and let them know how they inspired you.

 Good luck everyone!

Voting open for 6 days:
March 14th to March
20th

Challenge #47--Optional Theme: BIRTH OF NEW BEGINNINGS...March 6th to April 2nd

Hello everyone! Welcome back to The Path of Positivity. My sincere apologies, especially to the team, for the lateness of this post. I absolutely had to take the time to first update the Challenge Details page at the top of the blog. Two months has already gone by since we implemented the new changes so it was high time for me to get it done!

Now that that is out of the way, it is time for the next challenge to start. This time around, for Challenge #47, the optional theme* is "BIRTH OF NEW BEGINNINGS". Here is what you need to know...

The Basics

While you can find out ALL the information you need to know in order to participate in the challenge by checking out the 'Challenge Details' tab at the top of the page (or by clicking HERE), here is a refresher of the basics.
  • ALL entries must be positive, inspirational, motivational or encouraging in some nature.
  • *Each month there will also be an OPTIONAL theme to follow. Participants must follow the optional  theme in order to win the prize for Most Inspirational. If you choose to follow the theme, please follow the instructions below to ensure that you are considered for this prize.
  • All entries that abide by the general rules of the challenge, will be eligible to receive the Random Prize.
  • For both prizes, you can make any sort of project you'd like (i.e., scrapbooking page, card, tag, mixed media, digital, etc.). In fact, you don't have to create a project at all. You may just have something to say that is motivational or encouraging in some way, or a written passage that expounds on the nature of the theme. Project, written passage or both! It is completely up to you.
Now that the basics are out of the way, how about we get on with the details of Challenge #47.
